NMC NExT 2023

This is the latest report from New Delhi for National Medical Commission (NMC) which will be conducting NMC NExT 2023 for medical students who want to take admission for a PG course or to practise medicine in India.

From the main portal of NMC, we have got the important information that the National Exit Test NExT will be conducted in two steps.

It has been in the News that NExT is going to replace the National Eligibility Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) exam

Well, we are not confirmed whether this story is true or not. But we know the fact that the Indian Government is looking for the effective measures for the candidates Pan India.

NMC NExT 2023 PG Entrance

Earlier, the National Eligibility Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) used to held for the students who would want to make their academic career in the medical field. They had to fill out the form in order to opt for the desired PG course.

NMC shares the relevant information on their official portal for the NExT 2023 exam. They say that the medical students of 2019-2020 batch will have to appear for the paper. The admissions will be conducted on the basis of merit and only those students will be shortlisted who will manage to get the marks according to the cut off list.

NMC NExT 2023 Eligibility Criteria

All those students who have completed the MBBS third year of final year course from a medical college recognized by the commission will be eligible to appear.

NMC NExT 2023 Exam Pattern

For NMC NExT Step 1

Step 1 will be conducted once in every year for the medical students.

  • Theory paper
  • MCQs
  • Computer-based test mode

There will be 6 papers in Step 1 :

  • Medicine and allied disciplines
  • Otorhinolaryngology
  • Gynaecology
  • Surgery and allied disciplines
  • Obstetrics
  • Paediatrics
  • Ophthalmology
  • I MBBS/ II MBBS/III MBBS /Final MBBS Part l subjects/topics

NMC NExT Step 2

There will be 7 Subjects in Step 2 :

  • Medicine and allied disciplines
  • Ophthalmology
  • Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • Paediatrics
  • Surgery and allied disciplines
  • Obstetrics
  • Otorhinolaryngology
  • Gynaecology
  • Orthopaedics

The exam will be held once a year. There is no restriction on the number of attempts to appear for the Step 2 exam. Kindly note that there is no attempt limit for NExT Step 1. However, the student must complete the NExT Step 1 and 2 exams within 10 years from the date of joining their MBBS.

NMC NExT 2023 Scores

The marks for Step 1 exam will be calculated put of 100. This will be a raw score and will be added after the result of Step 2 exam. After that the students will get a result as Pass or Fail.

The NMC NExT 2023 Scores will decide whether a student is qualified to study a particular PG course or not.

NMC NExT 2023 Preparation Tips

The students will have to follow the same procedure as in the NEET PG exam. They will have to study separately for theory and practical examinations.

  • A proper study schedule will be helpful for the students
  • They must prepare short notes for study
  • Watching videos will help them to learn the syllabus faster
  • Mock tests can be given to score good marks
  • Reference from previous year’s and sample papers will be helpful

NMC NExT 2023 Guidelines

  • All the students who have completed their MBBS or are in the final year of MBBS can appear for NExT Exam
  • This exam will be conducted once in every year
  • There are no fixed attempts but the students will have to clear it till they finish their medical study or MBBS
  • NExT Step 1 will be a theoretical examination
  • Step 1 will be held in CBT mode
  • There will be 6 subjects in Step 1 (mostly the MBBS syllabus)
  • There will be multiple choice questions in Step 1
  • Step 2 will be a practical and viva voce exam
